Project:               Mountain Villa
Location:            Sochi, Krasnaya Polyana, Russia
Status:                 Project in Development
Year:                    2025

Collaboration:   JPaunic Architects

Presented here is the interior design of a mountain villa located in Krasnaya Polyana, Russia, in the immediate vicinity of Sochi. The project was conceived as a response to the building’s distinctive existing wooden structure, which has been preserved and emphasized as the key aesthetic and spatial feature of the interior.

All other elements were designed with the intention of remaining in its shadow, discreetly supporting the natural beauty of the wood while highlighting its warmth and authenticity. Stone and wood claddings were carefully introduced in areas with specific functions, subtly emphasizing different ambient zones and adding new layers of depth and warmth to the space.

For practical reasons, as well as in harmony with the character of a mountain house, the flooring was executed in stone. Travertine was selected as a durable, natural, and versatile material that bridges rustic warmth with a contemporary spatial expression. Contemporary furniture design introduces a sense of freshness and elegance, creating a balance between traditional and modern aesthetics.

The lighting was designed to integrate neutrally and unobtrusively into the wooden roof structure through track lighting that follows the architecture of the space. In key areas, such as the dining room and living zone, chandeliers with a pronounced sculptural character were introduced, further defining and visually accentuating these central spaces of the villa.

The result is a sophisticated, warm, and authentic mountain atmosphere.
